Easkey’s passion for the marine environment and her campaign for positive social impact and empowerment were a highlight of Surf Summit 2015 in Co. Sligo, Ireland. As a surfer and an environmentalist, Easkey’s achievements have been ground-breaking over the past number of years and when she speaks on stage, this energy becomes infectious for all who are watching. Easkey was a pleasure to deal with, reading the crowd with ease. Her Pursuit of adventure travel, big waves, research and artistic expression made her the perfect choice for our event offering insights from her vast experience to an audience on the edge of their seats.

Easkey has morphed from a tiny grommet with a massive grin to a global ambassador for what surfing could mean. During the course of her talk, at the Finisterre store in London, she not only inspired everyone in the room (with the story of smashing her own glass ceiling at Mullaghmore) but also showed how surfing can build cross-cultural bridges, spanning divides and helping drive interconnectedness, social change and environmental understanding.

It was a real honour having Easkey as a keynote speaker at Surfers Against Sewage’s Global Wave Conference in 2015. She is an inspirational surfer, scientist, humanitarian and an all-round great example of a person using the surfing motivation to create positivity within individuals and communities. Easkey gave one of the standout talks of the conference surrounded many of her fellow luminaries of the enviro-surf and surfing world.

I had admired Easkey from afar for her surfing and in particular her work in Iran for some time and I knew instinctively that our supporters would be blown away by her, so I was delighted when Easkey agreed to speak at our tent at the Somersault Festival 2015.
