Land of Teranga

Featuring Sam Bleakley, Easkey Britton and Adrien Toyon kick off their journey in N’Gor Island, where they ride the wave from ‘Endless Summer’.

What others say:

Your talk is amazing, I can’t watch it at work as I get choked up.

– Ian Brunswick, Director TEDxDublin, The Science Gallery, Trinity College.

You crushed it Easkey! What an audience. Your story is unreal – love the idea of sharing your passion too because that inspires others to do the same. That’s what starts to change the world. Surfing seems like such an amazing lens by which to see the world. Thank you for being part of our community and for doing what you’re doing. And having the courage to stand on that stage – and more so to stand on that board! I’m in awe. Perhaps we can share a wave one day.

– Scott Dinsmore, Founder of Live Your Legend, R.I.P.

Easkey’s passion for the marine environment and her campaign for positive social impact and empowerment were a highlight of Surf Summit 2015 in Co. Sligo, Ireland. As a surfer and an environmentalist, Easkey’s achievements have been ground-breaking over the past number of years and when she speaks on stage, this energy becomes infectious for all who are watching. Easkey was a pleasure to deal with, reading the crowd with ease. Her Pursuit of adventure travel, big waves, research and artistic expression made her the perfect choice for our event offering insights from her vast experience to an audience on the edge of their seats.

– Allan Mulrooney, Surf Summit lead organiser

Easkey has morphed from a tiny grommet with a massive grin to a global ambassador for what surfing could mean. During the course of her talk, at the Finisterre store in London, she not only inspired everyone in the room (with the story of smashing her own glass ceiling at Mullaghmore) but also showed how surfing can build cross-cultural bridges, spanning divides and helping drive interconnectedness, social change and environmental understanding.

– Daniel Crockett, surfer/writer.

It was a real honour having Easkey as a keynote speaker at Surfers Against Sewage’s Global Wave Conference in 2015. She is an inspirational surfer, scientist, humanitarian and an all-round great example of a person using the surfing motivation to create positivity within individuals and communities. Easkey gave one of the standout talks of the conference surrounded many of her fellow luminaries of the enviro-surf and surfing world.

– Hugo Tagholm, CEO, Surfers Against Sewage

I had admired Easkey from afar for her surfing and in particular her work in Iran for some time and I knew instinctively that our supporters would be blown away by her, so I was delighted when Easkey agreed to speak at our tent at the Somersault Festival 2015. Despite knowing that she would be great, it was wonderful to witness how festival goers (in particular young women) who may have just initially been ducking in to avoid the rain were completely captivated and inspired by Easkey

– Dom Ferris, Surfers Against Sewage Projects Manager.

I have had the marvellous opportunity to hear Easkey present at the Transatlantic Connections Conference the last two years. From a first presentation about the power and identity of surfing in Ireland to a talk on the development opportunities in sport, what a fantastic experience it has been for me to be in the presence of and later come to know this thoughtful and articulate speaker, this passionate social change agent, and this deep student of the world.
